Micro-credentials @ Potsdam

During the second Design Thinking workshop for the Higher Education Interoperability Working Group in sunny Potsdam, we introduced and utilised our visual language on interoperability for education. The event, organised by the European Digital Education Hub, brought together around 35 participants from the EDEH Interoperability Workgroup and the Consortium.

Goal: Prototyping a 'Higher Education Interoperability Starter Kit'

The workshop aimed to prototype a “Higher Education Interoperability Starter Kit” through two design challenges. Five diverse, multidisciplinary teams developed prototypes, including an Interoperability Governance Toolkit and specific guidelines for priority use cases based on reference architecture and existing standards.

One team focused on use case 6: the digital management of educational credentials (issuance, verification, revocation), affirming achievements from diverse learning experiences. Participants explored how different roles within an institution collaborate to create micro-credentials. Using our visual language, they cut flyers and layered elements to build their stories, inspiring a new slide deck specifically for this micro-credentials use case.

Enthusiasm and looking ahead

The enthusiasm and creativity of the participants were evident, and we look forward to further developing these tools. Stay tuned for a dedicated post on this use case on our website!
