A tool to improve educational interoperability

Interoperability is a crucial, yet complex, concept at the heart of transforming education. It ensures that systems, products, services, and institutions can seamlessly work together across borders to support flexible learning experiences. However, understanding and communicating interoperability can be challenging. Since 2023, a multidisciplinary team has been developing a visual language to help simplify these discussions and facilitate clearer communication about educational interoperability.

Why a visual language?

For education to offer students more flexibility, systems, services, and institutions need to communicate and exchange information effortlessly—this is the foundation of interoperability. But explaining these concepts in words alone can be difficult. Our visual language bridges that gap.

By using visual tools, teams can map processes, identify challenges, and collaboratively find interoperable solutions. These tools are particularly helpful in aligning efforts across diverse institutions, fostering seamless cooperation and improving the learner journey.
